1995 - 2002

Mal and I first visited Bulgaria in 1995, and immediately fell in love with the country.

We holidayed there for every year except for 1998, when we went to Kefalonia.

In 2001 after talking to some Bulgarian friends we decided to look at purchasing property, we looked at numerous houses and apartments in Ravda Nesebur & St Vlas in the summer of 2002 with our Bulgarian friends, without whose assistance none of this would have been possible, when we returned home we decided that we would visit Bulgaria in September with the sole intention of purchasing a property, we viewed two or three properties with our Bulgarian friends and arrived at a decision to purchase an apartment.

We had toyed with the idea of buying a house, but after considering the logistics, (only visiting two, at most three times a year), we would have a lot of maintenance to carry out, not least in the garden, we would also not know whether the roof was ok, and other things to do with the upkeep.

We fell in love with Ravda and bought an apartment that is on the third floor, that was a resale (one other floor above), with fully fitted kitchen and all furniture, entrance hall, two terraces, two bedrooms, kitchen living room, only 50 metres form the beach from the exit of the gardens. All floors are tiled and there is under floor heating, we now visit three times a year and from May 2012 we will be spending all summer there.

We hired a lawyer from New Nesebur who did all the work and translated for us when we met the vendours, and we manaqged to sign and pay for the property on the Friday, which was the last day possible before we flew hoem on the Sunday.

We have now made a few additions to the apartment, (decorating, television, art work etc.) and hope to finish everything this summer, we are really happy with our purchase and do not regret a single thing
